Emergency Management (BA)

Mission

With excellent teaching, it transfers knowledge to students to create the necessary competencies for their professionalism in the field of emergency management, guides them in ongoing scientific research in this field and serves the community to build capacities and resources in mitigating and coping with emergency situations.

Purpose and Objectives

The Emergency Management study program aims to prepare graduates with creative knowledge and full competencies and future leaders with problem-solving skills, and capable of making changes in society. Through this study program, students will have the opportunity to think and act as managers in the field of emergency management with integrity, ethics and full responsibility for their actions.

The objectives of the study program are defined as:

  • Promoting science and academic tradition;
  • Developing scientific activity in the field of emergencies;
  • Creating and developing cooperation relations with educational and scientific institutions inside and outside the country in the field of emergencies;
  • Systematization of problems related to emergency management.

Competencies for the “Emergency Management” Program (BA)

Program Competencies Learning Outcomes
Academic and Professional Preparation – Ability to perform professional roles in the fields of emergency management, civil protection, security, and public health. Graduates will be prepared as qualified professionals in Emergency Management.
Basic Research Competence – Ability to collect data, analyze case studies, and respect scientific and ethical research standards. Graduates will be able to organize or participate at a basic level in scientific research while respecting ethical principles.
Climate Change and Extreme Phenomena Awareness – Knowledge of climate change impacts and prediction of extreme events relevant to emergency planning. Graduates will apply foundational knowledge of emergency management and environmental planning in prevention and preparedness.
Risk Analysis and Assessment – Ability to analyze and assess risks posed by natural and man-made disasters. Graduates will identify, formulate, analyze relevant literature, and solve complex problems related to risk assessment.
Emergency Planning and Implementation – Ability to design and implement emergency management plans for floods, fires, earthquakes, and other hazards. Graduates will design and evaluate solutions for emergency management challenges in public and institutional contexts.
Use of Specialized Equipment and Technologies – Ability to use monitoring equipment, manage hazardous substances, and apply technologies for chemical and biological contamination control. Graduates will create, adapt, and apply contemporary techniques, resources, and instruments used in emergency management.
Individual Work and Team Coordination – Ability to coordinate institutionally and collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams. Graduates will function effectively as individuals and as members or leaders of professional and multidisciplinary teams.
Professional Communication – Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with the public, authorities, and institutions. Graduates will prepare reports, professional documentation, and deliver clear and effective presentations.
Professionalism and Social Responsibility – Ability to understand legal, social, cultural, health, and safety responsibilities in emergency work. Graduates will understand and evaluate social, health, safety, legal, and cultural issues in professional emergency management practice.
Professional Ethics – Ability to apply ethical principles and responsible decision-making in emergency situations. Graduates will understand and demonstrate commitment to professional ethics and standards of practice.
Lifelong Learning – Ability to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies, regulations, and challenges in emergency management. Graduates will recognize the need for and engage in independent learning and continuous professional development.
